WHO IS AASHISH MEHTA?
My name is Aashish Mehta (she/her), and I am currently working as a Technical Lead. At the University of Bath, I got a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, and I love learning new things and finding ways to use what I know in my projects.
I quite like taking things apart and (mostly) putting them back together, or just building something new entirely. In my projects, I usually work with Arduinos, a 3D printer, and wood.
I also love programming and automation, and will spend a good half hour trying to automate a 5 minute task. Honestly, I just want to make my, and others’ lives easier – life’s too short to get up and open the blinds myself (or maybe I’m just lazy, who knows).
Music is a big part of my life too. I mostly play the piano and guitar, but really I try to play whatever I can get my hands on. It ties all of my interests together, and keeps me sane.
AASHISH MEHTA | EXPERIENCES
Currently, I am working as a development lead using Java and Typescript, and tying it all together with Kubernetes. I have done some work with Natural Language Processing, and Convolutional Neural Networks both in and out of work. A lot of great work has been done in making AI and ML more accessible and easier to work with. More modularity, especially using different technologies / vendors, will improve the way we can work with these models.
I have worked with Citizens Advice Redbridge to build a mobile application. This app was built using C# and a cross-platform framework called Xamarin Forms. The app has subsequently been published on the play store.
Before that, I was with Siemens Digital Industries working as a quality engineer, generating automated tests and implementing continuous integration. Here is where I started my C# journey and worked with Azure DevOps to essentially automate my job.
I have also worked with Camp America as a counselor, where I taught music and led art / sport activities. I also had to make sure all the campers were happy and safe. Unfortunately, there was no Kubernetes equivalent that managed that for me…

AASHISH MEHTA | UNIVERSITY
During my final year project, I worked with the Texas Heart Institute on investigating how Machine Learning and Computational Fluid Dynamics could be combined to optimise the geometry of a heart pump. I worked primarily with Ansys Bladegen, MATLAB, and Python.
While at university, I worked with Team Bath Racing Electric AI on an autonomous vehicle. I mainly used Simulink to model the car battery and its connections to the rest of the vehicle.
Additionally, I was interested in Robotics, Spacecraft Engineering, and Advanced Control. You can find out more about the modules I studied at aashishmehta.com/grades.
